Here is another T5 Character. I used the T5 000 characters.pdf for homeworld and college details, the newer T5 Chargen-- 07 Naval.pdf for the career, chargen.pdf for the Mustering Out Benefits, and MT for the equipment:
Cr. 120,000 Prosthetic Left Leg and Foot (Touch Sense, Soft-Contoured, Electronic Circuit Protection) High Passage x10
Sigrun, whose name means "victory" in her native Icelandic, is a typical member of her planet in the Sword Worlds Confederation (a member of the League of Spinward States during the present time): tall, fair, and proud. Her father was a regional Jarl, who kept his authority even during the days when the Sword Worlds were part of the Imperial Regency.
By 1229, when Sigrun was 14, she had helped her father and her people secede from the Imperial Regency. Her world was badly bloodied during the fighting, but it was sucessful. Four years later, she would be among the first students of the new Sword Worlds Naval Academy.
She graduated class of '37 with honors, as well as a fully-qualified Astrogator. Her first assignment was a diplomatic mission with reprentatives of the Sword World governments, her father included, to the Darrian homeworld - to negotiate an alliance that would become the League of Spinward States.
In 1243, Avery issued his famous "Call To Arms" against the Dominate. The fleet commander over Sigrun answered the call - a call, they reasoned, that would be a ticket to Vahalla.
During the last days of the fighting in the Gateway Campaign in 1247, the situation looked completely hopeless. The captain of Sigrun's ship ship allowed the Lucan Virus to infect his ship for the final desperate assault. The ship jumped into the Gateway system and participated in the biggest naval battle in Post-Ancient Era history.
Her ship was nearly destroyed, but it lived; she lived - even after the bridge took a direct hit. Her leg was crushed under her Astrogation console, however. Even with her injuries, she managed to pull off the wreckage from on top of the Captain, saving his life. Sigrun, along with the Captain and the pilot, managed to make it to a lifeboat station - the last to leave the ship. Most of the launchs were picked up by a surviving Zhodani missile cruiser as it was preparing to jump out to the rendezvous point.
It was many more weeks before she saw the stars of home again. The Navy fitted a prosthetic leg for her which she still has. She decided that she did her share for her people and the League; the Battle of Gateway was more than enough for anyone. She left the service on a Medical Discharge - after receiving the Starburst for Extreme Heroism for her actions (and, more importantly, surviving it!).
She made it home discreetly and met her family. Her father hoped she would stay so she could marry the one that would take his place. She had other thoughts. After her career, she knew she had the power to choose her own fate. She got offworld and headed to Darrian space.
As for now, she is restless. She picked up the traveling bug from her Navy career. Maybe there is something on the civillian side. There is a man named Admag who is calling for people to help crew his far trader, the "Argent Dawn." Maybe he needs a real Astrogator........

I haven't paid much attention to the T5 chargen as it seems a bit complicated, but the results seem impressive as evidenced by your character. The skills seem a bit a high for my liking though (astrogation -6). I might take a look at T5 now, (although I'm still annoyed by T20 losing it's licence).
It's a good character with a great back story, well done!

Thanks. Keep in mind: her Astrogation skill is the only skill she's really qualified for. In T5 - just like CT with some skills - you need to be at least level 3 to be competent (remember how to be a doctor?). Going to the Naval Academy can get you certified in Astrogation easily.

Let me try to reclarify my last post:
T5 seems to warrant slightly higher skill levels than previous versions of Official Traveller rules. It even applies to Mongoose's Traveller rules (FYI, their playtesting rules are open for anyone to download. You can find the PDF at http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/series.php?qsSeries=51 ).
It isn't too crazy - providing you use a little maturity in your character creation. IMTU I let players choose their skills during their character creation. However, unless the situation warrants, I don't allow more than 2 levels per term in one skill. I find that's a good model that gives players what they want and prevents them from being one-skilled-wonders. Going to college in T5, OTOH, can get you high skill levels really easy. T5's skill system also makes high levels easier to handle.
Just my thoughts.....

I, pretty much, use the same skill rules you use. The result is the same: she got that high Astrogation skill from her college term (it was her major).
NOTICE: All of my previous characters are obsolete. We (us in the Traveller Development Group as well as pre-roder customers) have made signifigant changes to chargen since the last time I created characters. Once I clean up the files, I will post the newer versions.

Bio:
Sigrun, whose name means "victory" in her native Icelandic, is a typical member of her planet in the Sword Worlds Confederation (a member of the League of Spinward States during the present time): tall, fair, and proud. Her father is a Narsilian Jarl, who kept his authority even during the days when the Sword Worlds were leaned on by the Imperial Regency. Her father was one of the Sword Worlds leaders that directed the rebellions of former Sword Worlds and Border Worlds (now called The Metal Worlds, also in the L.S.S.) against the I.R. and helped the Darrians forge the L.S.S.. When Sigrun was 18, she felt obligated to join Flota- Ţjálfun Stofnun - The Naval Training Academy of Narsil. She focused on getting her certification in Astrogation. She graduated with honors with the class of '39 and became an Ensign in Sjóher af Narsil....
When Avery made his Call to arms in 1243, the L.S.S. responded. It was all voluntary; no fleet was obligated to join. The Sword Worlds and Metal worlds did, among others in the L.S.S., The Republic of Regina, even the thrice-cursed Imperial Regency. No matter the outcome, this campaign promised to be one grand trip to Valhalla...
During the last days of the fighting during the Second Battle of Gateway in 1247, the situation looked completely hopeless. The captain of Sigrun's ship ship allowed the Lucan Virus to infect his ship for the final desperate assault. The ship jumped into the Gateway system and participated in the biggest naval battle in Post-Ancient Era history.
Her ship was nearly destroyed, but it barely held - even after the bridge took a direct hit. Her captain was trapped under her Astrogation console, however. Ignoring the carnage and risk of being left behind by the crew abandoning ship, she managed to pull off the wreckage from on top of the Captain, saving his life. Sigrun, along with the Captain and the pilot, managed to obtain jet packs. They tied themselves together and the pilot manuvered the jetpack away from the wreckage. The Captain activated an Emergency Radio Beacon as they watched Lucan's Flagship make its plummet directly into the Gateway Station itself. The explosions and disarrayed Dominate forces was a thing to see. Eventually, they were retrieved by a surviving Zhodani missile cruiser as it was preparing to jump out to the rendezvous point.
It was many more weeks before she saw the stars of home again. Finally, she was back on Narsil. She received the Medal for Conspicuous Gallantry for her actions at the SBOG (and, more importantly, surviving it!).
Sigrun was tapped out after the Battle. She felt she needed a change of pace. She resigned her commission - to her father's protests. She did know that she could control her own hlutskipti (destiny). Her father hoped she would stay so she could marry the one that would take his place. She had other thoughts. She said goodbye to her family and booked working passage that led her into Regina space.
As for now, she is restless. She picked up the traveling bug from her Navy career. There was something about crewing on tramp freighters that appealed to her. She is hoping to sign on as a permanent crewmember on one. There is a man named Admag who is calling for people to help crew his far trader, the "Argent Dawn." Maybe he needs a real Astrogator........
